The National Centre for Children’s Books

St Nicholas’ Educational Trust have continued to fund a Seven Stories’ Reader in Residence to encourage and nurture the love of books in children in two Byker Primary Schools.

The ‘Reader in Residence” works one day a week in each school delivering a programme to children, staff and parents with the purpose of bringing books alive. The project aims to reduce the learning gap experienced by children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a focus on reading, language and communication skills. All the activities are underpinned by an emphasis on fun.
